DUSHANBE, April 16, Asia-Plus  — A new TV news channel will go on air in the country in September this year, Asadullo Rahmonov, Chairman of the Committee for TV and Radio-broadcasting, announced at a press conference in Dushanbe on April 16.  

According to him, the Tajik national TV will have launched the news channel by Tajikistan’s Independence Day, which is marked on September 9. 

Rahmonov also noted that over the first three months of this year, the committee has paid a special attention to raising professional skills of its creative and technical staffs as well as improving the material and technical basis of the Tajik national television.  

“Digital equipment installed on children’s TV channel Bahoriston has allowed increasing its operation to 12 hour a day and organizing satellite broadcasts of it to other countries,” said Rahmonov.  “Over the report period, 21 TV transmission stations have been installed in different regions of the country and residents of border areas of the Sughd and Khatlon provinces are now able to pick up programs of the national TV Channel One, Safina and Bahoriston.”    

Besides, the radio station Ovozi Tojik has gone on air in the northern Sughd province this year, Rahmonov said.
