DUSHANBE, April 17, Asia-Plus  — The limited liability company Tajikshifer (private slate-producing enterprise) intends to construct a small cement plant in the Rudaki district, some 20 kilometers south of Dushanbe, Asia-Plus has learned at the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI).

The source at a MoEI said that Tajikshifer uses a cement of special grade for producing slate and it wants to construct the plant for its own needs.

The plant is expected to have the capacity of producing 100,000 tons of cement per year.  The company also plans to construct an enterprise for production of concrete and concrete products.

The procedure of getting permission for construction of the plant is still under way and a number of other “administrative issues” are still being solved, the source said.

According to the MoEI, only two cement plants are currently operational in Tajikistan: the Dushanbe cement plant and the mini cement plant in Sughd’s Isfara district.

Besides, another two mini cement plants, one in Isfara and another one in Khatlon’s Sarband district, are supposed to be put into operation this year.

The cement plant that was recently built in Sughd”s Bobjonghafurov district still stands idle because of lack of natural gas and should be launched in the near future.
