DUSHANBE, April 22, Asia-Plus  — Tajik border guards have seized more than 326 kilograms of drugs over the first quarter of this year, press service of the main border directorate within the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) said.

The totaled included more than 44 kilograms of heroin, more than 117 kilograms of cannabis and more than 164 kilograms of raw opium.  

Over the report period, the border guards have also detained 94 trespassers and 352 violators of border regime requirements.  Besides, the border guards seized nine firearms, including four sub-machine-guns Kalashnikov and five hunting guns, as well as 74 bullets of different caliber, over the same three-month period.  

In the meantime, the Ministry of Interior reported that more than 2 kilograms of drugs, including one kilogram of heroin, were intercepted in two separate operations in Khatlon’s Vose district and Sughd’s Bobojonghafurov district yesterday.      

We will recall that over the report period, officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA) have seized more than 217 kilograms of drugs, including some 76 kilograms of heroin, 25 kilograms of raw opium and some 116 kilograms of cannabis.
