DUSHANBE, April 24, Asia-Plus — The Dushanbe FM station Imrouz (Today) is expected to come back on the air tomorrow.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Rustami Joni, top manager of the media holding Orieno-Media, said that representatives of Tajikteleradiocom (joint-stock company at the Ministry of Transport and Communications in charge of distributing radio frequencies) had called to the radio and said that technical problems had been resolved and they may resume their services already tomorrow.
In the meantime, the Tajikteleradiocom technical director Fayzullo Solehov told Asia-Plus on Thursday that the frequency-distribution equipment is currently undergoing technical testing and expressed hope that the issue will be solved tomorrow.
We will recall that Tajikteleradiocom took the FM station Imrouz off the air on April 8, citing technical problems.
Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service noted that it is not the first time that Imrouz has been taken off the air. It was shut down in February by the authorities but was back on the air less than three days later.
