DUSHANBE, April 26, Asia-Plus  — President’s assignment to increase this year’s tax proceeds by 600 million somonis (equivalent to $174.8914 million) will not lead to rise in tax rates, Bakhtiyor Sultonov, the deputy head of the Tax Committee, told a press conference in Dushanbe on April 25.

According to him, they plan to increase tax proceeds through tightening control of tax collection, and “no tax increases are scheduled for this year.”

Sultonov said that Tajik tax officers have collected 386.1 million somonis (more than $112.5 million) over the first three months of this year, which is 38.9 million somonis ($11.3 million) or 11.2 percent more than it was originally planned.

“Performance for the report period was not so high as many enterprises stood idle because of the difficult winter and severe electricity shortages,” said the deputy head.  “We hope the performance will improve in the months to come and we will fulfill the target.”
