DUSHANBE, April 30, Asia-Plus  — The results of work of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission to Tajikistan were discussed at a meeting of President Emomali Rahmon with Mr. Carlos Pinerua, the head of the IMF mission to Tajikistan.  The National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) Sharif Rahimzoda all attended the meeting

Following his meeting with Rahmon, Pinerua told reporters that his discussions with senior representatives of the National Bank of Tajikistan had focused on a new cooperation program designed for six months.

The main objective of the program is in restoring the lost confidence that resulted from inaccurate financial information provided by Tajik authorities.

One of the main goals of the program is to support reforming activity of Tajikistan’s central bank, the IMF mission head said.  It is necessary to remove some shortcomings that led to occurrence of the misreporting, according to him.

He added that he will fly to Washington tomorrow and he intends to submit this issue for consideration to the Fund’s executive board.

The important thing is that incident connected with the inaccurate financial information has been left behind, Mr. Pinerua said.

Speaking to reporters, Tajik central bank head Rahimzoda said that Tajikistan will begin repaying IMF’s loan starting from September.
