DUSHANBE, Asia-Plus — 14 Uzbek nationals that were detained in Tajikistan last week for violation of the passport regime have been released, Davlat Nazriyev, the head of the MFA information department, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, they were illegally living and working in Tajik districts bordering on Uzbekistan. Some of them have failed to register their arrival in Tajikistan, while others have let their visas expire.
The MFA official stressed that the release of the Uzbek nationals was not the return measure to the release of Tajik teenagers that had been detained by Uzbek borer guards for illegally crossing the border.
