DUSHANBE, May 23, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan does not need intensive external labor expansion, while investments in any sectors of the country’s economy would be beneficial, Nazarali Khonaliyev, researcher at the Institute for Economic Studies within the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT), said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, to speed up socioeconomic development of the country the government is currently compelled  to launch joint ventures in many sectors of economy.

“This process is still going forward hard in the country; however, dozens of foreign partners from Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Turkey, the United Kingdom ad other countries now work in sectors like energy, mining, road-building and communications, aluminum production and hotel business,” said Khonaliyev,  “Turks, Russians, Kazakhs, Iranians are enlisting the services only of their experts – engineers, technicians and other skilled specialists, while China is also enlisting the services even of Chinese ordinary workers.”

“I hail laborious Chinese workers but Tajikistan has plenty of skilled workers in various fields itself; many of Tajiks worked for many years in constructions sector in Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan and obtained good experience,” the expert said, noting that Tajik workers could be recruited for implementation of China-sponsored projects.

He said that at present hundreds of Chinese builders are involved in rehabilitation of the Dusahnbe-Khujand-Chanak road.  Recently, one of Chinese companies concluded a contract with Tajik aluminum group TALCO on construction of two plants in the Yovon district.
