DUSHANBE, May 26, Asia-Plus  — Thomas Tait, the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Nevada Tourism Alliance, arrived in Dushanbe May 26 for a weeklong series of consultations with private tourism operators, international donors, and government of Tajikistan officials on how to improve tourism in Tajikistan, press release issued by the US Embassy in Dushanbe said.

Tait met several Tajik tour operators and government tourism promoters when they visited the United States in 2006 and 2007 for consultations on tourism.  The U.S. Embassy sponsored Tait’s visit so he could continue the consultations.  Topics to be addressed include barriers hindering tourism in Tajikistan, opportunities for expanding tourism, and ideas for marketing Tajikistan’s unique cultural and historic heritage.

Tait is the former commissioner of tourism for the State of Nevada.
