NOUROBOD, May 27, Asia-Plus  – This year, farmers of the Yakhak-Yust jamoat (community) in the Nourobod district, some 100 kilometers east of Dushanbe, have planted wheat, barley, corn, potatoes, vegetables and flaxes on the area of 45 hectares.   

Ms. Sofiya Safiyeva, the chairperson of the jamoat development support center, said local farming units hope to have good harvests.  According to her, they have pledged to provide not only their jamoat but also the whole district with farm produce.  

“Last year, with support of the center a new orchard was laid out on the area of 4 hectares; 540 apricot trees and 160 peach trees were planted on that area,” Ms. Safiyeva.
