DUSHANBE, May 28, Asia-Plus — Deputies of the lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of the parliament (Majlisi Oli) have endorsed a bill requiring amendments to the law on order of observing traditions.
The regular sitting of the fourth session of Majlisi Namoyandagon of the third convocation, presided over by its speaker, Saydullo Khairulloyev, was held on May 28.
Presenting the bill, Professor Mahmad Rahimov, the deputy head of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Committee on Constitution, Legislation and Human Rights, said that it had been worked out by the government and is aimed at protection of economic and social rights of citizens.
According him, wishes on making amendments to the law on order of observing traditions were also discussed during meetings of MPs with their voters.
The amendments were made to Articles 9, 10, 11 and 14, which concern wedding and khatna (male circumcision) parties, the anniversary of the deceased, and time of holding these parties.
Parliamentarians approved the draft law practically unanimously.
