DUSHANBE, May 28, Asia-Plus – The lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of the parliament (Majlisi Oli) ratified five agreements concluded by Tajikistan with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Egypt and India at a May 28 sitting, presided over by its speaker, Saydullo Khairulloyev.

Speaking to reporters after the sitting, the first Deputy Prosecutor-General, Abdusami Dadoboyev, said that Tajikistan had signed three agreements with the UAE – on legal assistance on the citizenship and trade issues, mutual assistance on criminal proceedings and extradition, an agreement with Egypt on cooperation in combating crime, and an agreement with India on extradition.

According to him, the extradition agreements “concern extradition of criminals, whose names are on list of police-wanted persons.”  “Thus, persons wanted by Tajik police for being involved in human trafficking currently live in the UAE,” the deputy chief prosecutor said, adding that persons wanted by police for having committed crimes of other type or category could also live in the mentioned countries.

Dadoboyev refrained from named such persons, adding that “other competent organs deal with that.”
