KULOB, June 15, Asia-Plus  — By May 12, five of ten districts in Khatlon’s Kulob region have harvested the first 10,123 tons of wheat from an area of totaling 5,798 hectares, Asia-Plus has learned from Abdullo Rajabov, the leading specialist with the Kulob agriculture directorate.  

  According to him, the highest wheat yields have been reported in the Hamadoni district – 2.51 tons per hectare.  “Farmers in the Farkhor district have reported harvests of up to 2.2 tons/ha,” the leading specialist said.    

“In the Danghara district, which is considered to be breadbasket of the Kulob region, wheat yields are traditionally low,” said Rajabov,  “Average wheat yields in Danghara are usually not higher than 1.2 tons/ha.” что большая часть зерновых в указанном районе размещена на богаре, и на большее рассчитывать не приходится.

The Vose district is still making preparations for the mass grain-harvesting campaign.  However, the Vose grain growers have harvested 2,640 tons of wheat from 1,650 hectares so far.  

We will recall that this year, all ten districts of the Kulob region have planted wheat on the area of totaling 80,612 hectares and plan to produce 141,063 tons of grains.
