DUSHANBE, June 12, Asia-Plus — On Thursday June 12, President Emomali Rahmon sent a telegram of congratulations to his Russian counterpart, President Dmitry Medvedev, on the occasion of Russia Day, presidential press service said.
In his telegram, President Rahmon, in particular, noted that Tajikistan values strategic partnership with Russia. According to him, this partnership meets interests of both countries and their peoples and is an important factor of strengthening regional security and stability.
Noting that significant groundwork has been laid for further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Russian over the past period, the Tajik leader underlined the importance of implementation of a series of joint large-scale projects in Tajikistan that will boost cooperation between the two countries.
Rahmon said that he is ready to take all necessary efforts to promote “strengthening of historical traditions of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation” between the two countries. He expressed confidence that the upcoming official visit of Medvedev to Tajikistan will give impulse to further development of relations between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation.
