QURGHON TEPPA, June 13, Asia-Plus — Agroinvestbonk’s branch in Qurghon Teppa, the capital of Khatlon province has provided 21.5 million somonis (TJS) to fund the cotton sector in the province.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Rahmonali Turghunaliyev, the head of the Agroinvestbonk branch in Qurghon Teppa, said they have signed loan agreements for a total amount of 34.7 million somonis with 534 farming units working an area of totaling 17,700 hectares. “71 percent of the loan funds have already been drawn,” Turghunaliyev said, adding that their bank has funded cotton-growing farms in the districts of Jomi, Bokhtar, Danghara, Vakhsh, Khuroson and Jilikul.
According to him, Agroinvestbonk supports enhancement of other sectors through providing loans as well. The bank has provided loans to grain farms (1.2 million somonis), fodder-producing farms (3.3 million somonis), potato-growing farms (0.3 million somonis) and vegetable-growing farms (0.7 million somonis).
Founded in 1992, Agroinvestbonk, with headquarters in Dushanbe, has main branches in Khorog, Khujand, Kulob and Qurghon Teppa and 57 other branches across the republic. As of May 1, Agroinvestbonk’s capital has amounted to TJS115,357,775 (equivalent to $33.6 million).
