DUSHANBE, July 2, 2008, Asia-Plus  — A session of the council of the CIS defense ministers opened in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan today.   

Defense Minister, Colonel-General Sherali Khairulloyev, is representing Tajikistan at the session.

Ms. Maria Gutsalo, a spokeswoman for the CIS Executive Committee, told Asia-Plus today that than more than 20 issues had been tabled to the session’s agenda. 

The session is considering a progress of implementation of the plan of main actions on implementation of the concept of further development of the CIS, draft agreement on cooperation in investigating air accidents, involving fair forces of member nations of the CIS for 2005-2010 and issues of financing it in 2009.

One of the most important issues to be discussed at the session is the draft regulations on the rules of actions of those on duty for the CIS air-defense forces in the event of getting information about hijacking of an aircraft by terrorist.  This issue is planned to be submitted for consideration to the CIS heads of state, Gutsalo said.

According to her, the CIS defense ministers will also consider issues related to providing safety of flights, cooperation on exchange of information, sports, etc.
