KHUAJND, July 5, 2008, Asia-Plus  — A conference of the regional organization of the Social-Democratic Party (SDPT) for Sughd that was held in Khujand on July 3 elected Ms. Dilbar Samadova as new leader of the Sughd organization for the Sughd province.  She replaced Mamadjon Abdulloyev, who had headed the SDPT organization for Sughd over the last two years. 

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Ms. Samadova said that the conference, presided over by the SDPT leader Rahmatillo Zoirov, had discussed the present socioeconomic and political situation in the country.   

According to her, the conference delegates also considered draft amendments proposed by the SDPT to the country’s parliamentary election legislation and discussed tactics and strategy of the party in the upcoming elections in 2010.  

The conference also elected a new board of the party organization in northern Tajikistan.
