KULOB, July 8, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Over the first six months of this year, 513 new cases of tuberculosis have been registered in Khatlon’s Kulob region, which is 24 cases more than in the same period of 2007, Asia-Plus has learned at the Kulob Center for Sanitary-Epidemiologic Supervision.

The source at the Kulob Center for Sanitary-Epidemiologic Supervision said that the most serious situation is in the districts of Kulob and Vose, where 179 and 129 new TB cases have been registered respectively over the report period.  The TB rate in Kulob and Vose for January-June 2008 stood at 103.7 and 78.6 per 100,000 people respectively.

“Over the report period, new cases of tuberculosis have been detected in all ten districts of the Kulob region,” said the source, “Thus, 46 new cases of TB have been registered in Farkhor, 40 in Temourmalik, 37 in Hamadoni, 20 cases in the Danghara district and five cases in Baljuvon.”
