DUSHANBE, July 10, 2008, Asia-Plus –  Over the first six months of this year, production of livestock products has increased in Gorno Badakhshan.  

Speaking in an interview with Pamir Media, Ms. Adoalt Haidarova, the deputy head of the GBAO agriculture directorate, said 2,034 tons of meat have been produced in the region over the report period, which is 78 tons more than in the same period of last year.  

Over the same six-month period, local farmers have produced 6,418 tons of milk, which is 1,077 tons more than in January-June 2007.  

Production of wool has increased by eight tons over the first half-year of 2008, reaching 147 tons. 

In January-June 2008, the GBAO farmers have produced 19 tons of honey, which is 4 tons more than in the same period of last year.

In the meantime, production of eggs in the region has reduced over the report period by 21,000 pieces and amounted to 1.96 million pieces Haidarova said.
