DUSHANBE, July 10, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Russia’s air carrier, Vim-Avia  Airlines, has suspended regular flights from Dushanbe to Ufa, the capital of Russia’s Bashkortostan Republic.

According to Vadim Dolev, a spokesman for Vim-Avia, flights on this air route have been suspended because of low passenger traffic.  “Having analyzed market on this air route, the company has come to a conclusion that passenger traffic here has a seasonal character; the demand for tickets during the summer season is very low,” said the spokesman, “This flight is not canceled and the issue of resumption of flights on this route will be considered at the beginning of the autumn season.”

We will recall that Vim-Avia was granted license for operating this flight in April 2008 and under the air traffic schedule for spring-summer period, the Russian air carrier was supposed to operate the flight from May 2 to October 25, once a week.

Vim-Avia Airlines obtained its license for cargo and passenger air transport operations on November 27, 2003.  Its base airport is Domodedovo International Airport, Moscow.  The company carries out passenger operations – regular and charter flights. Most popular destinations for charter flights are Turkey, Tunis, Egypt, and Western Europe.  The company is expected to expand into the Russian domestic market in course of development of its aircraft fleet.
