KHUJAND, July 10, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Introduction into operation of the new mining equipment, purchased from the Russian Federation, has allowed open joint-stock company (OJSC) Koni Angishti Shurob (Shurob mining directorate) in northern Tajikistan to increase coal productions, the enterprise director general Hokimjon Mahmoudov said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, two coal-transfer conveyors worth 500,000 somonis have been installed at mine # 8 that has allowed mechanizing work of miners.  “Moreover, the conveyors allows us not raising coal prices,” said the director general.  “Like the last year, we have sold coal at 270 somonis per one ton and chippings at 100 somonis per ton; we will try to hold these prices though the end of the year.”       

Mahmoudov added that more than 340 persons currently work with Koni Angishti Shurob and the enterprise produce up to 110 tons of coals per day.  Over the first six months of this year, the enterprise has produced 14,703 tons of coals, which is 3,512 tons more than in the same period of 2007.
