KHUJAND, July 11, 2008, Asia-Plus  — A new school to accommodate 480 pupils will be built in Sughd’s Ghonchi district instead of that ruined by fire on June 18 this year, Saidmukhtor Jalolov, head of the Sughd education directorate, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, 100,000 have been allocated from the regional budget and the same amount has been allocated from the Ghonchi district budget for construction of the new school.

Besides, employees of the educational sector in Ghonchi have made donations totaling 62,000 somonis and 38,000 somonis have been transferred to the Ghonchi education department by the Sughd enterprises and organizations for construction of the new school.

“However, these funds are not enough to construct the school and collection of donations will continue,” Jalolov said, noting that the new school is expected to be finished in October or November this year.
