DUSHANBE, July 17, 2008, Asia-Plus  — The first Tajik TV news channel, Jahonnamo, is supposed to be launched in September, Abdurahmon Abdumannonov, the first deputy head of the Committee for TV and Radio-broadcasting, remarked at a press conference in Dushanbe on July 17.

According to him, the project for creation of this TV channel will be submitted for consideration to the government in the near future.

“We have already ordered for necessary equipment and the building to house the channel has been renovated,” the deputy head said, noting that specialists to work with the channel will be competitively selected.  “Besides, we will also enlist the services of employees from the national TV television – Channel One and Safina.”

Jahonnamo will broadcast programs mainly in the Tajik language as well as in the Russian language.  “In the future, we plan to broadcast news programs in English as well,” Abdumannonov said
