KULOB, July 17, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Over the first six months of this year, the branch of Agroinvestbonk in Kulob has provided loans for a total amount of 25.529 million somonis, which is nearly two times more than in the same period of last year, Sayfiddin Qadamov, the head of Agroinvestbonk’s branch in Kulob, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, 63 percent of these loans have been provided to cotton-growing farms.  “In the Kulob region, our bank funds production of cotton in 219 farming units on an area of 9,660 hectares,” Qadamov said, noting that they have received loan applications from cotton farmers for 17 million somonis and 12 million somonis have already been provided. 

            He also noted that over the report period, labor migrants have remitted to the Agroinvestbonk branch in Kulob 29 million US dollars, which is 90 percent more than last year, as well 43 million Russian rubles.   

Founded in 1992, Agroinvestbonk, with headquarters in Dushanbe, has main branches in Khorog, Khujand, Kulob and Qurghon Teppa and 57 other branches across the republic.
