DUSHANBE, July 17, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Researchers with the Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics have raised a new medium-fiber cotton growth – Shavkat-80, Homidjon Abdulloyev, an official with Tajik Academy of Sciences, remarked at a press service in Dushanbe on July 15.   

According to him, Shavkat-80’s yield is 40%-41% and its crop capacity amounts to 4-4.5 tons per hectare.  This cotton growth will be planted mainly in the Khatlon province.   

Tajik specialists have also raised the cotton growth Khuajnd, which has already been used by cotton growers in Khatlon’s Qubodiyon district, Abdulloyev said.
