DUSHANBE, July 21, 2008, Asia-Plus  — In a report released at a press conference in Dushanbe, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Subhoniddin Ashourov, revealed on July 18 that 60,739 new jobs have been created in Tajikistan over the first half-year of 2008, which is 1,663 jobs more than in the same period of last year.

“Over the report period, 53,777 unemployed have applied the State Agency or Social Protection, employment and Migration for jobs, which is 6,789 people fewer than in January-June 2007,” Ashourov said

Of them, 12,900 people have been placed in jobs, according to him.  Besides, job vacancy fairs held in the country over the same six-month period have given job assignment letters to 2,895 people; 1,603 of them have been employed, the deputy minister said.

“Meanwhile, 101,000 people without specialties entered the labor market during one year alone,” Ashourov said.

Touching upon the labor migration problem, the deputy minister stressed that many labor migrants do not have good qualification, have poor knowledge of legal requirements and have serious linguistic problems.  “To enhance their awareness level and professionalism we have opened a number of vocational training centers for adults,” Ashourov said.
