DUSHANBE, July 28, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Representatives of France’s companies Sofema Group and Alpha Airport have presented a model of a new international terminal that will be built at the Dushanbe airport, Asia-Plus has learned at Tajik national air carrier, Tajik Air.

Senior representatives of the French Embassy in Dushanbe, Tajik Air as well as Tajik MFA consular directorate attended the model-presenting ceremony that was held at the end of last week.

The terminal with an acceptance rate of 500 passengers per hour and meeting all international standards is expected to be located on an area of 11,000 square meters, which is four times more than the territory of the present Dushanbe airport.   It will have 16 check-in counters connected to the automated system of registration of passengers and their luggage.

“The use of the new automated passenger registration system significantly cuts the time to board the aircraft.  The registration procedure will take not more than 30-40 seconds per one passenger,” said the source, “No more manual coupon counts, no more manual registration of passengers.”

The terminal will have two covered passenger ramps with four telescopic boarding bridges, according to the source.

The project for construction of the new international terminal at the Dushanbe will be financed mainly due to a long-term preferential loan that will be provided by the Government of France.
