KULOB, July 29, 2008, Asia-Plus — To identify abandoned areas in the city the Kulob legislature (Majlis) has decided to set up a special commission for making inventory of territories of former large plants and transport enterprises.

The Kulob mayor Homid Abdulloyev has charged a group of members of the city legislature to submit comprehensive information about all local enterprises and organizations that have not used their former territories according to their intended purpose over the past 15 years to the mayor’s office within the next few days.

“These territories will be allotted to local residents for housing,” the source at the Kulob mayor’s office said, adding that they have already received nearly 4,000 building plot applications from local residents.

In the meantime, the Kulob branch of Tojiksodirotbonk (TSB) has allocated 1 million somonis in loan to the Kulob state company Kulobdehsokhtmon (rural construction) for mortgage-financed housing in the area of the old airport.
