DUSHANBE, August 6, 2008, Asia-Plus  — We are interested in investing in Tajikistan’s economy and launching joint ventures here, Mr. Nasser Mohammad, deputy head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Iran’s Mazendaran Province, remarked at presentation of an exhibition of achievements of Mazendaran’s commodity producers in Dushanbe on August 6.

The exhibition will be held at the Kokhi Vahdat State Complex in Dushanbe from August 9-14.

Mr. Nasser Mohammad noted that more than 35 companies, having European production certificates, and their subsidiaries, totaling 100 enterprises, will participate in the exhibition.  Holding of such exhibitions will promote signing of cooperation contracts with Tajik colleagues and launch of joint ventures, he said.

“In all, 100 Mazendaran entrepreneurs will put on display their products at the fair,” said Mr. Nasser Mohammad.  “Many of them have already arrived in Tajikistan.”

Another deputy head of Mazendaran’s CCI, Mohammad Asghari noted that Mazendaran is mainly agrarian province, growing rice, citrus plants, cotton and various fruits and vegetables.  The province accounts for 50 percent of Iran’s total production of rice, according to him.  “Mazendaran produces some 1 million tons of rice per year,” Mr. Asghari said.
