DUSHANBE, August 6, 2008, Asia-Plus  — An auction of liberated domains within the TJ domain zone is going.

The national domain registrator, GET.TJ, is conducting the auction.  37 expired domain names that have not been renewed have been put on the auction; 23 of them have already been sold.

The domain name Cook.tj has been sold for $95, BL.TJ has been sold for $7, and the domain name LP.TJ has been sold at $65.  The so-called “key» domain names such as Day.tj, Novosti.tj, File.tj and other have been sold.  The starting price for each of the “key” domain names was $30.

According to information posted on the website of the TJ domain zone, resale of domain names within the TJ domain zone started in March 2007.  After introduction of new, more democratic program for development of the zone, nonresidents (for example, nationals of the United States, Ukraine, Russia, etc) have also got permission for registration of domain names.  Over the first four months after resale started (from March 2007 to June 2007), they had registered domain names five times more than through the whole year of 2006, which is evidence of onrush of the TJ domain zone.

TJ is an official double-symbol code of Tajikistan on the international standard ISO 3166-1, and the top level Internet domain (TLD) of Tajikistan on International Internet Registry classification (IANA).  The information-technical center of President’s Executive Office is a coordination unit on second level domain .TJ registration and delegation.

Domain names are a hot commodity. Everyone wants one – from large corporations to private individuals. Everyone wants their presence to be known on the Internet, because the Internet is the new wave of commercialism. Obtaining a domain name is a relatively, inexpensive way to market yourself, your product, or your business to millions of people on a daily basis. The most desirable domain names have probably already been registered, but they have expiration dates.  And when they expire, there are people waiting to snatch them up as soon as possible.
