KHUAJND, August 15, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Over the first seven months of this year, all categories of farms in the northern Sughd province have produced 66,392 tons of grains, which is only 75.6 percent of the January-July 2007 level, according to the Sughd agency for statistics.

Over the report period, Sughd farmers have produced 6,882 tons of potatoes (166.3percent), 55,404 tons of vegetables (100.2 percent), 6,360 tons of watermelons, melons and gourds (122.7 percent), 27,960 tons of fruits (4.2 times more) and 604 tons of grapes (100.2 percent).  

Over the same seven-month period, the Sughd farming units have stocked in 42,319 tons of forages, which is 82.4 percent of the January-July 2007 level.
