DUSHANBE, September 18, 2008, Asia-Plus  — We communicate with international community in the Russian language, President Emomali Rahmon said, while addressing the 3rd forum of the CIS intelligentsia at the Varzob governmental residence Pugus on September 18.  

According to him, the study of the Russian is compulsory in Tajik schools, and “We do it not at the suggestion of Russia but because we communicate with our international partners, from regional forums to the UN General Assembly, in this language.”  “For our researchers, artistes and students, the Russian language gives an opportunity to familiarize themselves with achievements of world civilization and the latest scientific innovations,” the Tajik head of state said.  

He further noted that politicians should create conditions for representatives of intelligentsia freely moving about the CIS area.
