DUSHANBE, October 17, 2008, Asia-Plus  — A seminar, formally titled “Development of National Infrastructure of Quality and Technical Regulation in Tajikistan,” has been conducted at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT).  

The main objective of the seminar is in raising awareness of significance of creation of an adequate national quality infrastructure that would meet requirements of market and the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The source at a MoEDT said that the seminar had brought together representatives of relevant ministries and organizations, as well as international organizations and private sector to discuss a bill on technical regulation and recommendations for speeding up the process of adoption of that law.  According to him, the national infrastructure of quality and technical regulation would support progressing socioeconomic requirements of Tajikistan.  

The seminar is part of the Trade Promotion in Tajikistan Project, implemented by International Trade Center (ITC) and financed by the Swiss Government jointly with the Standardization Project, which is financed by the European Union and the MoEDT, the source said.
