KHUJAND, November 15, 2008, Asia-Plus — The Khujand-based public association, Saodat, has completed implementation of a three-year project for ensuring food security that targeted rural women in the Ghonchi and Spitamen districts.
According to Saodat’s head office in Khujand, launched in 2005, the project, entitled Durakhshon, was aimed at improving socio and economic situation of women and children in the mentioned districts and ensuring food security of them. Fuels as well as rice, potato and wheat seeds were handed over to them.
“In all, some 4,000 rural women and 19,000 children in Ghonchi and Spitamen have received more than 60 tons of wheat, 458 tons of potatoes, and more than 29 tons of rice,” the source said.
