KHUJAND, November 18, 2008, Asia-Plus — According to local specialists, juvenile crime rate is decreasing in the Sughd province.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Azamjon Kholmirozyev, an official with the Sughd commission on child’s rights, noted that 146 crimes committed by minors have been reported in the province this year, which is 119 cases fewer than last year.

“These results have been yielded due to support of the population, law enforcement agencies and educational institutions,” Kholmirozyev said, adding that special activities have been organized this year to reduce the juvenile crime rate in the region.

“Special summer camps have been organized for difficult teenagers and all cities and districts in the province have been instructed to allot special employment quotas for nine-year school leavers,” he said, noting that 150 minors were placed in jobs last year and further70 minors have been placed in jobs this year.
