DUSHANBE, November 28, 2008, Asia-Plus  – Dushanbe authorities are gradually removing Soviet-era monuments and like the statue of Lenin monuments to Felix Dzerzhinsky and Cheslav Putovsky have also quietly disappeared.

According to the Dushanbe mayor’s office, the monuments were dismantled and handed over to the State Committee for National Security (GKNB).  “The GKNB will place them in the yard of the GKNB Higher School, which is located on the Nemat Qaraboyev Street,” the source at the Dushanbe mayor’s office said.
