KULOB, December 4, 2008, Asia-Plus — Since the beginning of this year, the branch of Society of Assistance to Defense of Tajikistan has trained 200 specialists for the national army.

The second plenum of Society of Assistance to Defense’s branch in Kulob was held in Kulob on December 4.  During the meeting, it was noted the Kulob branch had some 30 primary organizations, grouping more than 5,000 members.  This year, the Kulob branch of the Society of Assistance to Defense, in particular, trained a special group of 30 persons for battalion of the Ministry of Defense (MoD) deployed in the Vose district.

Special schools within the branch train conscript-age persons in various military disciplines, including communications, driving, etc.  “Over the past year, young men of conscription age from Kulob, Muminobod and Hamadoni districts have taken training courses in different military specialties discipline at our schools,” the source at the Kulob branch said, noting that they had also trained more than 1,000 drivers this year.
