A workshop on Kazakhstan oil and gas sector and sustainable development was organized in Atyrau city.

Nongovernmental organizations representatives, journalists, experts and heads of oil companies participated in the event that was organized on the initiative of Budget Analysis and Economic Monitoring Center.

Participants discussed role of oil and gas sector in Kazakhstan economic development, its influence on the social sphere, environmental problems connected with development of new oil fields, including the Caspian shelf.

The issues of oil companies’ activity transparency, taxation and export duties were also discussed.
