KHUJAND, December 11, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Labor migrants have remitted 722,159,429 U.S. dollars to banks in the Sughd province in January-November this year, which is 56 percent more than in the same period of 2007, Abduvohid Raupov, the deputy head of the branch of the National bank of Tajikistan (NBT) for Sughd, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, labor migrants from Sughd remitted 463,547,800 U.S. dollars to local banks last year.

“In November alone, the Sughd labor migrants remitted more than 55.212 million dollars to local banks, which is 3 million dollars more than in November 2007,” Raupov said, noting that labor migrants have remitted money mainly to the Eskhata Bank.

“They remitted 20 million dollars to the Eskhata Bank in November alone,” he said.
