DUSHANBE, December 16, 2008, Asia-Plus  — A two-day seminar on institutional frameworks and monitoring capacity for Tajikistan’s Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS) and report on implementation of the PRS program in 2007 was launched in Dushanbe today.

The meeting has brought together representatives of the relevant ministries and organizations as well as representatives of international organizations that are partners of Tajikistan for the PRS implementation.

The objective of the seminar is in presenting the PRS monitoring system and discussing ways to improve it.  The system is created in compliance with requirements of structures responsible for the PRS monitoring, in particular management of monitoring of national and regional development programs of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

The seminar is reviewing the existing institutional basis for the PRS monitoring that includes appropriate institutional structures and procedures regulating monitoring information flow.  The seminar participants are also discussing proposals on improvement of the institutional basis for monitoring PRS.
