TAVILDARA, December 17, 2008, Asia-Plus  — This year, farming units in the Tavildara district, Rasht Valley have reported average potato yields of 22.7 tons per one hectare, which is four times more than in 2001, Ahliddin Karimov, an official with the Tavildara district administration, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

“This year, the district has produced 9,557 tons of potatoes that is enough to meet local population’s requirements in potatoes and deliver a considerable part of the harvest to Dushanbe’s markets,” Karimov said, noting that the best results were yielded by farming units Jomi and Zuvai as well as the farmers’ association of Miyonadou that have reported potato yields of 45-50 tons/ha.
