DUSHANBE, December 17, 2008, Asia-Plus  — According to the State Committee for Statistics, Tajikistan is the only CIS state, where industrial production decline has been reported this year.

In January-November 2008, Tajikistan has produced a total of 5.354 billion somoni (equivalent to 1.575 billion US dollars) worth of industrial goods.

Compared to January-November 2007 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods amounted to 95.8 percent, which was caused by the decline in production volumes in the energy sector – 14.3 percent, metallurgy – 3.9 percent, chemical and petrochemical sector – by 3.6 percent, industrial and building materials – by 13.6 percent, land light industry – by 2.2 percent.

Industrial products worth 3.5117 billion somoni have been delivered over the report period, or 97.4 percent of the volume of products produced.
