DUSHANBE, December 22, 2008, Asia-Plus — A service center for maintaining Belarus heavy trucks, BelAZ, is expected to open in Tajikistan at the beginning of the next year, according to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI).   

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Tojinisso Azizova, a spokeswoman for a MoEI, the decision on opening the BelAZ service center in Tajikistan was made during a meeting of Deputy Energy and Industries Minister, Mahmadsharif Haqdodov, with Belarus Deputy Foreign Minister, Igor Petrishenko, in Dushanbe at the end of last week.   

“Tajikistan has purchased more than 200 BelAzs over the past two years, and additional heavy trucks are expected to be purchased from Belarus next year for completing construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power station (HPS),” the spokeswoman said.
