DUSHANBE, January 5, 2009, Asia-Plus  – Compared to 2007 there was a 4 percent reduction in the number of cries reported in Tajikistan last year, according to the CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics.

The number of drug-related crimes reported in the country in 2008 decreased by 3 percent.

Within the CIS area, there was an 11 percent reduction in the number of crimes reported in 2008, the CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics said.

In the meantime, the number of crimes reported in 2008 increased in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan by 14, 5, 2 and 1 percent respectively.
