DUSHANBE, January 5, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The Social Democratic Party (SDPT) leader Rahmatillo Zoirov notes that the government should display political will to promote socioeconomic development of the country in 2009.

“In the economic sphere, it means reducing tax burden on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and preventing officials’ interference in business,” Zoirov said, pointing to the necessity of providing free entrepreneurial activity on the basis of the civil code.

On the social sphere (education, health and cultural sectors), Zoirov said that it was necessary to take measures to stop decline in this sphere through saving this sector from incompetent officials and raising the prestige of these specialties.

“As far as the political sphere is concerned, pluralism in society should be political but not administrative,” Zoirov said, noting that “election legislation should be free from the government administration” and naming that “the most important political task for the government for 2009.”
