KHUJAND, January 7, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Industrial products worth 102 million worth produced by the Sughd enterprises in 2008 remained unsold, the Sughd energy and industries department head Sodiq Rustamov said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, local enterprises have suspended realization of products “until market becomes stable after the financial crisis.”

“However, the Sughd enterprises managed to sell some 93 percent of their products last year although with certain financial losses,” said Rustamov, “To help local enterprises survive hard times the Sughd local authorities have applied to the government proposing to simplify the VAT return system.”  This would allow enterprise increasing their circulating assets and continuing to operate, he said.

Rustamov noted that the Sughd province a total of 1.108 billion somoni worth of products last year.  Compared to 2007 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods amounted to 104.3 percent
