DUSHANBE, January 12, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Dushanbe’s municipal waterworks, Dushanbevodokanal (DVK), will continue work on installation of water meters at enterprises and residential building this year, according to the DVK administration.

Major repairs to the daily run-off pond were completed at the end of last year, bringing its capacity to 270,000 cubic meters, according to the DVK source.

At present water at the daily run-off pond is purified by adding chlorine and other innocuous chemicals that are purchased primarily from Kazakhstan, the source said, adding that the city’s Shohmansour district and partially Ruodaki Avenue in Ismoili Somoni district are currently provided with drinking water of higher quality.
