DUSHANBE, January 14, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Qatar’s Minister for International Cooperation, Dr. Khalid bin Mohammad al Attiyah, heading Qatari government delegation will arrive in Dushanbe on January 16, on a two-day working visit according to the Tajik MFA.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the MFa infroamtion department head Davlat Nazriyev said that the purpose of the visit was for the delegation to discuss with Tajik officials state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Qatar and Tajikistan.

During his stay in Dushanbe, Qatari minister is scheduled to hold talks with President Emomali Rahmon, Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi, and Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev to discuss the progress of implementation of agreements reached during President Rahmn’s official visit to Qatar in May 2007 and an official visit of Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani to Tajikistan in August 2007.

According to figures provided by the State Committee for Statistics, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Qatar in January-November 2008 amounted to 138,700 US dollars.  This consisted of only Tajikistan’s imports from Qatar.
