DUSHANBE, January 30, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Officers from the customs control point in Nizhny Panj have discovered a large amount of narcotics hidden in a vehicle loaded with cement that was moving to Tajikistan from Afghanistan

According to the Khatlon customs directorate, they officers yesterday warded off an attempt of transportation of a large amount of narcotics from Afghanistan.  “An inspection of a vehicle loaded with cement, which was moving from Afghanistan, found more than 22 kilograms of narcotics, including more than 22 kilograms of heroin and some 8 kilograms of raw opium, hidden in it,” the source said.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted to investigate into the case.
