DUSHANBE, January 30, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan intends to increase production of some agricultural crops this year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).

The country plans to produce 508,900 tons of cotton, 963,200 tons of grains, including 691,800 tons of wheat, as well as 663,000 tons of potatoes, 826,000 of vegetables, 201,400 tons of fruits and 123,200 tons of grapes this year.

Besides, local farmers intend to bring production of eggs to 122 million pieces, meat to 116,000 tons, milk to 586,000 tons and honey to more than 2,000 tons.

We will recall that Tajikistan produced 954,000 tons of grains and 353,000 tons of cotton last year.
